Diversity Tennis

Fiona and Emma were looking forward to joining up with Living Sport again at their Family SEN Event at the leisure centre in Littleport.

The only potential cloud on the horizon (literally!) was the possibility of bad weather and having to set up indoors. Fingers were crossed which seemed to work as in the event it was a beautiful sunny day.

A range of colourful stations were set up allowing potential visitors to try out a range of different tennis based skills. And the doors opened.

Tennis proved really popular – one visitor spending over an hour dribbling in an out of cones, aiming at targets, and finally learning how to hit balls over the net. We identified him after several minutes and trying several different approaches – talking and demonstrating – as a visual learner with some kinesthetic. As Emma puts it “Essentially he was refining his movements by finding the right “feel” and end result, then repeatedly doing it until it was consistent.”

Great Day – and good to introduce new people to tennis!
