Diversity Tennis

The Diversity Tennis crew on the raft with our club and Pride flags flying

Diversity Tennis – supported by Ely Tennis Club Chair, Rachel, and gallant volunteer, Vicky – took to the water to fly the flag (quite literally!) for diversity and inclusion in tennis.

The occasion was the incredibly popular Rotary Club Aquafest community event held every year at the beginning of July. This year was the 43rd time the event has been held and it was as popular as ever.

Build for safety rather than speed, the raft didn’t quite manage the wooden spoon – the other contender actually sank! – but the stately progress up and down the river amidst the wind and rain gave the hundreds of people lined up on the riverbank plenty of time to admire the raft. It was fabulous to see the Walking Tennis regulars come along to support.
